This presentation is to highlight the importance of forward thinking in music education and pushing the agenda on repurpose of an buildings for Education.
This is demonstrated through collaborative approach between Education, Music, Contractor and Design resulting in the DfE funded CBSO school.
CBSO school - a collaborative approach to education with Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO). The first state funded music school in the country. The school will be the first in Britain to be established in collaboration with a world class orchestra and will make a unique approach to music education available to young people in the region.. Every child will be given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, and to participate in choirs and ensembles as well as regularly attending CBSO concerts at Symphony Hall.
CBSO School is a repurpose of an existing office block built 10 years ago, the presentation shows innovation in transforming workspace into education.

RCM campus has changed a lot in the last few years. In 2020, the ambitious £40m More Music development was completed, creating new performance spaces, a museum, a cafe and social areas in the courtyard behind the grade II listed Blomfield Building.
The presentation highlights continual investment in RCM facilities to ensure all students have the best opportunities; top-quality academic and technical provisions, such as RCM historic library and professional-grade studios, to match impressive performance spaces.
Sustainability is high on the RCM agenda. As a world-leading institution, RCM are aware of their responsibilities to manage the impact of RCM operations on the Environment. The presentation highlights the RCM achievements in improving sustainability performance which were recognised in the 2022/23 People & Planet University League, receiving a no. 1 ranking for universities with fewer than 5,000 students.
