Aida Berhamovic, Director of Estates, Royal College of Music

This presentation highlights the importance of providing fitting surroundings for gifted musicians to safeguard and enhance the future of music.

RCM campus has changed a lot in the last few years. In 2020, the ambitious £40m More Music development was completed, creating new performance spaces, a museum, a cafe and social areas in the courtyard behind the grade II listed Blomfield Building.

The presentation highlights continual investment in RCM facilities to ensure all students have the best opportunities; top-quality academic and technical provisions, such as RCM historic library and professional-grade studios, to match impressive performance spaces.

Sustainability is high on the RCM agenda. As a world-leading institution, RCM are aware of their responsibilities to manage the impact of RCM operations on the Environment. The presentation highlights the RCM achievements in improving sustainability performance which were recognised in the 2022/23 People & Planet University League, receiving a no. 1 ranking for universities with fewer than 5,000 students.
