Don't be oversold expensive heat pump technology, how to be smart when buying your heat pump
Andrew Williamson, Mott MacDonald; Ian Keeling, Cundall; Helen Groves, AtkinsRéalis; & Beverly Quinn, Department for Education

In this session, we will present findings from this DfE Research and Innovation project and conclude how to correctly size your heat pump for your school and avoid the expensive pitfalls of oversizing your heat pump.

As a national imperative there is a drive to reduce carbon emissions to meet the UKs carbon budgets. Using the Government’s thought leadership in Modern Methods of Construction the ‘Energy Pod’ project seeks to explore the opportunity to set out a standard design for low carbon modular off site produced plant rooms to act as an appropriately sized plug and play bivalent technology to decarbonise operational buildings and sites cost effectively.

The Energy Pod Research and Innovation Project takes on a whole system approach to decarbonisation, makes no assumptions about the conditions of the existing fabric and are designed to integrate seamlessly into a decarbonisation journey, that can be done in one step or spaced out over a series of planned interventions.
