Putting health and wellbeing at the heart of decision making
We spend approximately 90% of our time indoors, and we should not underestimate the impact that our environment has on our health and wellbeing. And this, for us, is the key aspect that gets overlooked in developing project briefs.
Often, the focus is on defining how much and what types of spaces are needed, and defining engineering aspects like data and power sockets, artificial lighting, and furniture. Not that these aren't important of course, but the project brief rarely mentions aspects that consider people's health and wellbeing, and we know that this is hugely influenced by the environment.
By putting health and wellbeing at the heart of decision making, we can address the existential challenges within Higher Education and respond to the new DfE framework requirements and create better places and space for people.
