The New Hutte Neighbourhood Centre in Halewood, Merseyside is now home to an inviting and exciting new Outdoor Play Environment, funded by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council. 

A community-owned facility, run by Torrington Drive Community Association, New Hutte Neighbourhood Centre is home to Little Seedlings Day Nursery. 

The charity organisation, TDCA, received funding from Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, as part of the Section 106 Developer Contributions, to develop an outdoor area for the nursery pupils to enjoy. 

The Section 106 Developer Contributions Agreement specifies that, as part of the Council's Growth Strategy, with each new large housing development, there must be an investment into local facilities that will accommodate the increase in residents. 

Formerly a plain tarmac space, there were few outdoor play opportunities for the children to explore, and COO Gary See knew they needed a more exciting environment for the children to enjoy. 

He recently spoke about the new development at this outdoor space, "We are thrilled to announce the launch of our newly renovated nursery space and outdoor play area.

This initiative stems from our commitment to providing the best possible facilities and opportunities for the children and families in our community.

By revamping these spaces, we aim to create an environment that nurtures learning, growth, and exploration. We believe that these enhancements will have a profoundly positive impact on the well-being and development of the children and families we serve, enriching their lives and strengthening our community as a whole.".

With the help of developer contributions, TDCA was able to raise an incredible £60,000 for their new development.

This new environment, designed and installed by Pentagon Play, now offers an interactive play space for the children at Little Seedlings to make friends, explore the outdoor world have fun! 

Launched in an official event on Friday 1st March 2024, Council Leader Iain Hamilton, Cllr Graham Morgan and fellow council officials attended the event, ceremoniously opened the new Nursery Outdoor and Indoor space, and stuck around to see the new space in action. 

Little Seedlings Day Nursery now offer nursery care for children across Halewood.
