Red Apple Designs is thrilled that our project to design various elements of the magnificent Les Quennevais School in Jersey was selected by Sharon Wright and Helen Taylor to include in their new book, Community Schools, published by RIBA.

To have our work endorsed by two of the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals within the school design arena is a huge compliment and a significant coup for our design consultancy.

We formed part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team on site that well and truly pushed the boundaries in terms of design excellence to achieve a school that champions inclusion and prioritises the mental health and wellbeing of all its students.

A school that is now inspiring and driving the ambition of a whole new generation and allows an enhanced learning experience for all. With a large science teaching space with a reaction chamber and hypothesis room and a magnificent main assembly hall, including retractable seating and stage sound and lighting, the school’s environment is well-structured, and the educational facilities support their open, welcoming and inclusive ethos.

The design of schools is one of the most important areas of architecture as it can have one of the most significant impacts on shaping lives. We congratulate Dr Sharon Wright and Helen Taylor for the incredible research they undertake and their work to develop the educational vision for the whole sector to allow the next generation of students to thrive.
