The University of East Anglia supports health, hygiene and sustainability with the Zip HydroTap Classic Plus
The University of East Anglia (UEA) is an internationally recognised university, renowned for its world-class environmental science research. With particular focus on sustainability and the need for advanced technology to support hygienic working environments, Zip provided UEA with the solution to their drinking water needs.
We installed the new HydroTap Classic Plus, ticking off all requirements. Offering instant filtered boiling and chilled water at the touch of a button means that staff can quickly and easily fill up their bottles and mugs without needing to queue. The addition of SteriTouch® antimicrobial technology in the touchpad and in key components in the water path, which reduces 99.99% of bacteria, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment. “With the current COVID-19 climate, the addition of SteriTouch technology is a must to kill bacteria from multiple people using it,” says Tim Ford, UEA’s Operations Manager. Supporting low-carbon goals through energy efficiency and the reduction of their environmental impact is of utmost importance to the UEA. The HydroTap Classic Plus aligns with this goal by reducing reliance on single-use plastic water bottles thanks to instant access to pure-tasting filtered water. “Staff reuse and refill their own cups and containers rather than buying single-use bottles. UEA support this greatly - for example, discounts are offered to people bringing in their own reusable coffee cups across their cafés,” says Tim. Alongside supporting refill culture, the HydroTap Classic Plus goes further by reducing water wastage thanks to air-cooling technology as well as conserving energy with features such as the lux sensor and programmable timer.
