Delta Balustrades helps multi-academy trusts, colleges and universities take a planned, estate-wide approach to inspecting and maintaining balustrades, handrails and guarding.
In most trusts this sits with site teams as part of general maintenance. Those checks are visual, and they catch obvious damage - but load performance, fixing integrity, compliance with current standards and early signs of failure are not usually part of the role. The result is inconsistency site by site, reactive costs, and no documented view of compliance across the estate.
Our Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme closes that gap. We carry out formal inspections against the relevant British Standards and Building Regulations, and provide a full written report with photographs - giving responsible bodies, estates teams and trust leadership an evidenced picture of where every site genuinely stands. It complements the work site teams already do, standardises the approach across the estate, and supports duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act and Work at Height Regulations, as well as the condition and compliance evidence expected under Good Estate Management for Schools. Many trusts start with a single school to see the value before rolling out estate-wide.
That assurance is grounded in 40 years of designing, manufacturing and installing balustrades. Delta is a UK specialist in proprietary balustrade and handrail systems for schools, colleges, universities and public buildings. Our in-house design team takes full design responsibility and completes all project-specific calculations, and our systems are supported by BSI Kitemark certification and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for whole-life carbon reporting. We inspect and maintain balustrades because we know, in detail, how they are engineered to perform.
For new build and refurbishment, we offer glass balustrades, stainless steel balustrades and architectural metalwork to suit any learning environment. Our systems arrive pre-assembled and install up to 40% faster than standard methods, with no hot works or on-site tooling - minimising disruption in occupied schools and fitting tight summer works programmes. Specification support includes BIM objects, CPD training and a dedicated DfE CF25 balustrade specification, available on NBS Source.
