Synopsis

Around 700,000 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum. Depending on the severity of their condition, they can struggle in mainstream schools due to over-sensitivity to sounds, touch, tastes, smells, light or colours and experience high levels of anxiety.

Many pupils are home schooled / transported to suitable facilities many miles from home due to a lack of provision in their local areas.
Pozzoni Architecture has designed two schools for the National Autistic Society and will look at the design elements required to ensure students’ learning environments reflect their needs and help them to reach their full potential.
