Synopsis

The University of Glasgow is located in the West end of Glasgow. In 2014 they purchased the site of the former Western Infirmary Hospital which was located immediately adjacent to the main Gilmorehill Campus. This provide 14.5 acres of land for redevelopment and a once in a lifetime opportunity to help the University make a step change in pedagogy and research. The challenge was how to masterplan the campus to maximise the benefits, and how to prioritise what the University invested. The presentation will focus on the development of the masterplan, engagement with the City, and how through the University’s investment, wide opportunities are developing within the City.
