Synopsis

Innovative Learning Environments & Teacher Change (ILETC) is three years into a four-year programme. This ground breaking study, regularly referenced by the OECD, has already indicated some key design concepts that have potentially increased attainment by 10-15% in the participating countries of Australia and New Zealand. Traditional teaching spaces combined with larger “deep learning” spaces, such as Pencoed in Wales, has proved a winning combination.

“We know that the learning environment can dramatically affect the learning outcomes of pupils. The new school enables us to offer a truly flexible approach to learning, ensuring that we are able to meet the needs of all learners,” says Suzanne Sarjeant, Head Teacher, Pencoed Primary School.
