Ann Griffin

Founding Director

Architects Collaborative

Ann is a highly experienced Architect, RIBA Client Adviser and strategic thinker.  She is passionate about the potential that education projects have to ensure young people flourish and to help create more holistic and sustainable communities.

Ann’s expertise in education and social infrastructure projects has been developed over 25 years, across projects of all scales.  In 2000 she founded Meadowcroft Griffin Architects, before joining Maccreanor Lavington in 2013, to set up a new social infrastructure team. Her many award-winning built projects include: Lauriston School, Hackney, RIBA National Award 2013; Kingsgate School and Liddell Road Mixed Use Development, Camden, combining education, workspace and housing, RIBA National Award 2018; and two further RIBA Awards 2018 for Charles Dickens and Grange Schools, Southwark.

In 2016 Ann founded Architects Collaborative, combining her expertise in design and delivery, with her strategic thinking and communication skills, in a range of roles: Client Adviser; brief development specialist; stakeholder consultation and participation; Design Review Panel member to planning departments; and policy research.

Ann relishes working with multi-headed clients through collaborative working relationships. Her strategic approach helps clients explore their often disparate aspirations and shape them into a single unifying vision. She has developed a clear framework to navigate this process and to establish a strategy to deliver the vision.  Ann’s successful methodology for objective decision making helps identify solutions that meet the design objectives, whilst maintaining programme and budget.

Through her wider roles, including Vice Chair of Governors, she has gained a holistic understanding of education clients’ needs, allowing her to support projects that will be innovative yet pragmatic, and successful over their whole lifetime.
