Alex has over 20 years of architectural experience in a range of sectors and is Cullinan Studio's Schools Sector lead. He is a designer with a keen interest in reducing the carbon footprint of buildings in use and in construction.

Alex has specialist knowledge of working with Modern Methods of Construction and with manufacturers, developed our off-site, prefab timber system for schools. Recent work with universities involved one of the largest retrofit projects in Europe to target Passivhaus EnerPHit standard at Queen Mary University of London and the phased refurbishment of Denys Lasdun’s iconic 1960s Central Building at Fitzwilliam College.

He enjoys teaching and lecturing about the work of our practice and leads our ‘Purpose & Culture’ management team; ensuring our practice is informed, trained and encouraged to develop their skills.

As former Chair, Alex sits on the Timber Development UK (TDUK) Advisory Board to support his passion for timber design.
