Afshan McKay is an Associate Director at Bond Bryan and one of the practice's education sector leads, with more than 17 years' experience delivering award-winning schools, colleges and university projects across the UK. She specialises in translating complex educational aspirations into high-performing, sustainable learning environments that improve outcomes for students, staff and communities. Afshan has extensive experience delivering projects through the Department for Education's frameworks, working collaboratively with the DfE, contractors, consultants and education providers to develop practical, deliverable solutions that respond to evolving policy, technical standards and operational requirements. Her expertise spans new build, refurbishment, campus transformation and estate renewal, with a particular focus on creating inclusive, adaptable and future-ready learning environments. Passionate about evidence-based design and continuous learning, Afshan works closely with clients and project teams to capture lessons from completed projects and apply them to future programmes. In this session, she will share practical insights from delivering Department for Education projects, exploring how the experience gained through CF21 can help shape successful delivery under CF25.
