Claire Barton

Partner, Haverstock

Claire Barton has been a partner at Haverstock since 2006, specialising in educational design for SEND and disabled children, young people, and adults. She values consultation to create shared solutions and exemplary designs. Claire has extensive experience working on a wide range of projects, including schools, SEND provisions, colleges, Blue Light facilities, and Supported Housing, and often collaborating with local authorities on strategic SEND planning.
As a technical advisor to the Department for Education, Claire has an in depth understanding of SEND requirements and budgetary constraints. Haverstock co-authored Building Bulletin 102, a pioneering design guide that marked a step change in providing high-quality learning spaces for children with SEND, and regularly engages with the DfE on inclusive design excellence.

Notable projects include Tuke School, Woodlands Meed College, and Columbus School and College. Claire also lectures on Part 3 Courses, mentors emerging architects, and is a Civic Trust Award judge.
