As a former architect, my career in teaching has also included providing consultancy advice on the design of schools. School360 was a recent project for the Big Education Trust where I was engaged to write the design and education brief and to stay on board during the design development phase to monitor progress and advise the architects. I was also commissioned to provide specific advice on the equipping and fitting out of the classrooms This involved in particular the design and resourcing of a Makerspace, an unusual facility in a regular state Primary school but very much part of the pedagogy and curriculum of Big Education Trust. Now that the school has opened I have also delivered staff training in order to show the staff how to use some of the facilities and ideas that are built into the building.
