Dr John Naylor
Ryder Architecture
John is an architect and researcher and joined Ryder in 2024. He graduated from the Architectural Association in 2013, winning the Fosters Prize for Sustainable Infrastructure. He has worked at MAD, Beijing, SUTD, Singapore, Grimshaw and dRMM, London, on complex projects including the Eden Project in Qingdao, China. He completed his PhD in Civil Engineering at Newcastle University, to support design decisions, with algorithmic design tools, for full-culm bamboo durability, and in 2022 he was named one of the RIBA Rising Stars. At Ryder he oversees the research strategy with ongoing activities focused on sustainability, novel material use, and the wellbeing impacts of design.
