Sustainability Advisor, Department for Education

Gemma is an energy, engineering, carbon, and performance lead within the civil service. Having joined the DfE from private practice in 2020 she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both the architectural and engineering design field. Having recently been a finalist for the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards for the Best Woman in Environment and Sustainability category she is an advocate for change within central government and a key asset to industry. Gemma currently leads on the development of climate resilience policy, technical standards development, pilots, research projects and spending review bids. Gemma also volunteers her time to contribute to her chartered institute. She is the current Vice Chair of the CIBSE School design group, and YEN Global Vice Chair for CIBSE.
