John Haylett is 22 years old and a Building Surveyor with AtkinsRéalis.

From the age of 13 to 18 years old, John completed levels 1, 2 and 3 of the Design Engineer Construct! learning programme at Clacton Coastal Academy.

Throughout his school years, John has championed young people and Built Environment careers, on several occasions speaking at the House of Lords, the Design Quality Conference hosted by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Most notably, John was presented to Her Majesty The Queen at the RICS’ 150th Anniversary.  

In 2021, he was a nominated finalist in the RICS Young Apprentice of the Year.

He is currently studying Building Surveying at Anglia Ruskin University as a degree apprentice. He is a valued member of a team of building surveyors who lead a nationwide package of works and surveys for the Government Property Agency, focusing on de-carbonising their estate.

John is working towards a first class honours whilst progressing with the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence to become a Chartered Surveyor.
