Leigh is the Principal of Dysart School, , a specialist provision for pupils with severe and complex needs, including those with Autism.  Dysart School is part of Orchard Hill College Academy Trust, a specialist multi academy trust and home of 13 special schools across London, Surrey, Sussex and Berkshire.  With over 25 years of experience in the SEND sector, Leigh began her career as a Learning Support Assistant and progressed through a range of leadership roles before becoming Principal of Dysart 12 years ago.

During her tenure, Leigh has overseen significant shifts in the needs profile and complexity of the pupil population, with demand for places rising exponentially. Under her leadership, Dysart School has more than doubled in size to meet the needs of local families, with innovative thinking and flexible design consistently shaping the school’s growth and provision model.

Alongside her professional experience, Leigh also brings a personal perspective to her work as a parent of two children with complex autism profiles and other competing needs. Navigating the SEND landscape from both sides has informed her commitment to creative, person-centred approaches to education and wider support.

Driven by a belief in the importance of voice, dignity and quality of life, Leigh is passionate about ensuring that pupils, their families and the staff team are heard, valued and supported to thrive.
