Lucy Bayliss
Interior Design Manager,
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council
Lucy Bayliss has been designing education spaces at Solihull Council for 21 years and describes herself as being “obsessed” with creating inclusive learning environments. Her work blends interior design with therapeutic, biophilic and hybrid education principles. As a parent of two children with SEND, and being neurodiverse herself, Lucy brings personal insight to her design approach and focuses on creating sensory informed spaces that evoke emotional safety and calm. “Simple changes like comfortable furniture, acoustics and soft lighting can make such a difference to how pupils feel in their classrooms.” She is keen to share the inclusion base designs currently being developed at Solihull Council.
