New Insights into the School Estate from The School Estate Practitioner Survey 2025
Various studies have been undertaken in recent years looking at the condition of the school estate in England and approaches to good estate management. However, there is a lack of empirical evidence from school estate professionals. Jon Jones, National Education Director at MAC Construction Consultants, and Jo Marchant MBE have collaborated on a survey of school estates professionals and will present their findings for the first time at Education Estates. The survey delivers new data and insights across the DfE’s three pillars of school estates support, and demonstrates how these can be used to inform future policy.

Condition Plus: Plymouth CAST’s Journey to BIM Maturity
Condition Plus was developed through a thought collaboration between Plymouth CAST and Building Spatial Intelligence to address the limitations of traditional condition surveys, which often operate in isolation. By integrating with BIM, Condition Plus consolidates condition, energy, and sustainability data into a unified model for better decision-making. Plymouth CAST, like most UK schools, initially used basic digital formats (BIM Level 1). They are now progressing toward BIM Level 3, where a centralised digital model links condition data to building elements, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals. This transformation enables informed, strategic estate management, supporting long-term efficiency and sustainability.
