Net Zero Carbon Operation in Schools
Results are in: A DfE NZCiO school, a year on
Deyes High School is a net zero carbon in operation high school building in Merseyside. After a year since it opened its doors, Kier, Pozzoni Architecture and the school will come together to share significant insights and findings. From the beginning, the project team drew inspiration from the visionary thinking promoted by the DfE and other stakeholders; in the words of the Head “a school where there are no limits to ambition.” But was this vision for the new facility successfully delivered? Were the outputs as expected? And how are lessons learned being implemented on future schemes?
UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard and beyond
The Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard pilot was launched in September 2024, setting out the proposed requirements for net zero carbon buildings. The Pilot proposes targets for operational and embodied carbon, reducing over time, across a number of sectors, including schools. This presentation will provide an overview of the standard and consider the advantages and disadvantages of the pilot standard.
