Resilient Schools
Building Climate-Resilient Schools: Insights from Arup’s Global Education Portfolio
Climate change is increasingly impacting global education, causing school closures, infrastructure damage, and adverse effects on students’ physical and mental health. These disruptions lead to higher absenteeism and reduced concentration, negatively affecting educational outcomes and society. To address these challenges, schools must enhance their resilience and become more climate-ready. We will share insights from global projects supporting climate resilience, including: •Peru School Programmes: Developing climate-ready scalable solutions. •GLA Climate Resilience Compendium: A playbook with over 50 design solutions. •Church of England Estates: Analysing carbon emissions in 3,000 school buildings. These efforts aim to improve education system resilience and outcomes.
