The National Conversation around the Education Estate

Education Estates® is a two-day event focusing on the funding, design, build, maintenance and management of schools, colleges and universities.

 

We are inviting presentation submissions to be considered for the 2026 conference programme. Don't miss your opportunity to speak and join other leading experts who are shaping the future of learning environments across the UK.

All presentations will be reviewed by our advisory group on the basis of quality, originality, and relevance to the conference themes and, if accepted, they will be allocated to one of the following 6 stages:

  • Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

Shaping Tomorrow Stage

 Focused on national policy, funding, legislation and estate strategy, this stage explores the future of learning environments. With speakers from government and leading organisations, it’s ideal for those shaping long-term plans at trust, institutional or regional level.

This stage tackles the urgent need for low-carbon, resilient and future-focused education buildings. Sessions highlight net zero delivery, biophilic design, retrofit strategies and real-world case studies from schools and public sector programmes, offering clear, actionable insight for anyone driving sustainability in the built environment.

Estates & Facilities Management Stage

Focused on the practicalities of managing education estates, this stage covers trust strategy, good estate management, procurement and planning. Sessions explore how data, design and collaboration can improve performance, sustainability and long-term value across schools, colleges and universities. Ideal for estates leaders, facilities professionals and those delivering operational excellence.

Design, Construction & Delivery Stage

This stage showcases innovative, scalable and sustainable approaches to building education spaces. Sessions cover standardisation, offsite methods, user experience and award-winning project delivery, with practical insights from architects, contractors and clients shaping the next generation of schools, colleges and universities.

Sessions will explore how education spaces can better support pupils with SEND through inclusive design, early intervention, funding and collaborative delivery. Ideal for those involved in planning, designing or managing specialist provision.

Refurbishment, Reuse & Adaptation Stage

Refurbishment, Reuse & Adaptation Stage

This stage explores how existing school, college and university buildings can be modernised through retrofit, adaptation and sensitive reuse. Sessions cover heritage projects, low-carbon upgrades, infrastructure planning and fabric-first strategies, offering practical insights for futureproofing ageing estates.

Please provide the following information in your submission

  • Presentation Title (10 words or less)
  • Presentation summary (300 words max)
  • Shortened summary (100 words) which will be used on the conference programme if successful
  • 3-5 learning points from an attendee perspective

  • Relevance: The presentation should be relevant to the themes of the conference, addressing the needs and expectations of the audience. 
  • Originality: The presentation should offer a fresh perspective or innovative approach, offer new case studies and up-to-date content and information.
  • Clarity: The presentation should be clear, concise, and easy to understand. The speaker should be able to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts to a diverse audience of educators, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Practicality: The presentation should offer practical solutions or insights in delivering/managing/maintaining educational buildings and spaces. Attendees should be able to take away tangible strategies and examples of best practice that they can implement in their own work.
  • Time: The presentation should be able to be delivered in a timely manner and if too long should be adaptable to be able to fit into the programme.

Presentation Speakers
Where a presentation is discussing a particular project or case study in an education setting, the client should be the main speaker with the contractor / architect etc as the supporting speaker. Students are welcome to attend as part of the presenting team if applicable.

You do not need to submit presentation slides at this point. If your presentation proposal is accepted, you will be provided with full information about the event, including deadlines for your slides.

The Advisory Group will review all submitted presentations and you will be notified whether or not you are successful.

Criteria for submitting a Presentation for the Conference

1.

Presentation submissions will be reviewed and selected by the Advisory Group
on the basis of quality, originality, and relevance to the conference themes. Marketing-derived papers, or those seeking to advertise will be rejected.

2.

Where a presentation is discussing a particular project or case study in an education setting, the client should be the main speaker with the contractor / architect etc as the supporting speaker.

3.

Presentations should be submitted under the name of the person intending to present them at the conference.

4.

A maximum of 3 presentations can be submitted by one company and each presentation should be a separate submission.
