Let’s Go Zero Hero Award

Let’s Go Zero Hero Award

Criteria

They are:

  • A passionate leader regardless of their level of authority. Leading bold, innovative, effective and replicable actions or projects.
  • Creating real and measurable impact in their setting’s climate action and progress towards net zero. They have gone beyond the easy and obvious actions.
  • Proactively sharing their experiences to support other settings to take action.
  • Advocating for the Lets’ Go Zero vision – that all schools, colleges and nurseries are zero carbon by 2030.
  • Inspiring a whole setting approach that has impact beyond their own setting – working with their MAT, community, or other networks/stakeholders.
  • A passionate and positive role model who enables others to take action through supporting their students, colleagues, and wider community.

Individuals can be teaching or non-teaching staff, as well as governors/MAT Trustees. Priority will be given to individuals in settings educating students aged 18 and below, and are signed up to the Let’s Go Zero campaign.

The Education Estates® People’s Awards will open for entries w/c 4 March 2024 and will close on Friday 28 June 2024.

All awards are free to enter and all entries must be made online by 17:00 on Friday 28 June 2024.

The qualifying period for all the Education Estates® People’s Awards categories is 1 January 2023 to the 31 December 2023.

Entry Criteria

  • Each entry must answer/cover 2 main questions:
    • Why are you nominating this person (30% score – 100-200 words)?
    • What have they done in the last 12 months to make them stand out (70% score - 300-500 words)?
  • Additional guidance on points/objectives that you may want to consider, so as to make your winning entry stand out, such as:
    • How they have e.g. supported colleagues or the business/brand or product, with examples of challenges and how they helped overcome them
    • Personal attributes demonstrated?
    • Why do you think they deserve this award compared to other potential nominees?
  • At least 1 testimonial from either a client or from team members

Please note that at judging all entries will be anonymised in order to be as fair as possible to the nominees.
